MEET JOE GODFREY

Chatham County Roots

Raised in Chatham County, Joe went to Silk Hope Elementary and Jordan Matthews High. He was raised on a farm and understood the value of hard work at an early age. When Joe graduated high school, he worked to get through Alamance Community College, studying Electronics Engineering Technology. During his college year, Joe was also dealing with his mother’s breast cancer, a battle she eventually lost at the young age of 45. His mother was instrumental in teaching Joe that people matter, a lesson he has never forgotten.

Joe married Renee and they have been married for 35 years. They have raised two sons, Adam, and Caleb, who went to the same two schools that Joe did. Joe and Renee have been fortunate to live and raise their family in Chatham County and are happy to call Chatham County home. He doesn’t take rural country life for granted and plans to retire and live in Chatham County for the rest of his life Joe is still active in Chatham County life, helping his nephew coach a recreation basketball team in Bonlee. He is active in his church, having served in various capacities including Deacon Chairman for several years.
